London reports indicate a third day of heavy aerial action as RAF fighters battled waves of German bombers along the southeast coast. A Nazi bomber reportedly crashed into the sea and several raiders were shot down, while four bombers conducted a hit and run on a southeastern town.
Royal Air Force raids targeted Cherbourg St Nazaire and Nantes oil depots and struck an enemy supply ship off the Norwegian coast. Daylight attacks included Dortmund power station and Dutch airfields Schiphol and Waalhaven. One RAF aircraft missing.
Forecaster S D Flora warns of continued heat across Kansas with highs 95 to 100 in eastern and southern areas and 90 to 95 in the northwest. He notes few chances for relief this week though some scattered thunderstorms may bring brief showers in some northern towns.

Mr and Mrs Potoroff of Fort Scott Kansas were abducted Tuesday night by two men in convict clothes near Mt Ayr Iowa. Sheriff Homer Todd said the pair are wanted for kidnapping and other crimes including holdups and car thefts in Iowa.
A smouldering fire atop a trash truck prompted a 4 pm alarm near the Eldridge Hotel. Firemen chased the truck to the Santa Fe station to extinguish the blaze, believing the driver aimed to move off main street to unload.

A debate clinic on the question Resolved: that the power of the Federal government should be increased will be held Tuesday afternoon July 30 in the little theatre of Granall Greenall led by Dr. E C Buehler and his staff from the University of Kansas. Both sides will be argued and audience members may participate in an open forum after the clinic. Speech teachers debate coaches and others interested are invited.
Rene Fonck, a French ace with 75 World War I victories, said the French air force has made a miserable showing in the current war. He argued sufficient credits were voted to build an air force equal to Germany's, but the money apparently never reached its purpose.

Summer Ezell, 60, of Wichita, was killed and two others injured in an automobile truck collision seven miles south of Belleville on U.S. 81. Injured were Mrs. Ezell and Miss Helen Stockes of Kimberlin Heights Tennessee, taken to a Belleville hospital. Mrs. Ezell had a possible skull fracture and back injury. Stockes suffered back and eye injuries. The truck driver was unharmed.
President Roosevelt established the machinery to buy and ship 50 million dollars in relief goods for European refugees. Secretary Wallace and Secretary Morgenthau will purchase agricultural and other materials, with the Red Cross handling transport and distribution overseas under the 1941 relief act. The Red Cross's role is to coordinate distribution, regardless of blockade issues.
The opening of the new Douglas county resort at Lone Star lake drew an estimated 2 000 to 3 000 people as boats filled the water and anglers reported a mix of bass, bullheads, perch and bluegill.
