Iowa State finds corn stalks can produce paper at $150 ton
In Ames Iowa the chemical engineering department at Iowa State College reports corn stalks, once waste, yield premium quality paper when processed. Professor Sweeney says six tenths of a ton of stalks make a ton of paper, with potential mills in prairie states. The stalks offer a high quality fiber longer than wood pulp and a by product adhesive liquid may lead to a new product.
