Pollard to be eligible for mandatory parole in November
Obama administration officials say Jonathan Pollard, jailed for spying for Israel, will be eligible for mandatory parole in November but deny any link to the Iran nuclear deal. Pollard, 61, was sentenced to life in 1985, with a 30 year term under statute. DOJ reiterates he should serve his full sentence, while the NSC notes parole depends on standard procedures and not policy. Israel supporters have long pressed for release amid Tehran talks.
