North Lawrence road closures delayed again

Lawrence contractor RD Johnson waits for specialized traffic signal equipment to arrive to enable single lane North Second traffic during reconstruction. Signage goes up Monday and closures start by Thursday, delaying phase one completion into early December with detours via Elm and Lyon streets. A fire medical crew will be stationed in North Lawrence during peak hours.

Wichita Beech AF-1 to Become Aviation Monument

Earl V Long III and the Bachus family plan to restore the AF-11 Beechcraft Twin Beech and install it as a public aviation monument at Westport Airport’s Mead Street approach near Old Town Wichita. The plane, once a WWII cargo trainer, will be lighted with a flag display, honoring a storied Kansas aviation history and the Long and Bachus families who rescued it from rust and weeds.
