Van Go JAMS benches sponsored by local companies
Van Go’s JAMS program hosted its Summer Benchmark event as teens who began June 1 completed hand painted benches for focal companies. The projects were commissioned for display at these offices, led by founder Lynne Green who praised the teens’ learning and creative potential. Becca Bast 15 Zayna Robles 14 and John Marino 15 were pictured painting a bench for Clinton Lake Marina.

KU Law Grad Confirmed for Army Financial Management Post
Valerie Lynn Baldwin, KU Law 1991, was confirmed by the U.S. Senate as assistant secretary of the Army for financial management. Baldwin, who also holds a Wichita State University bachelor's and a London School of Economics graduate degree, will oversee the Army's financial management section.

Former Haskell student convicted in campus stabbings
Chadwick Noah, 23, a former Haskell Indian Nations University student, was found guilty by a Douglas County jury of two counts of aggravated battery for the March 13 stabbings at Haskell Coffin Sports Complex. The incident followed an early morning fight after a group sneaked into the facility to swim. two men ages 19 and 23 were treated for stab wounds at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Noah faces sentencing on August 16.

Dentists Les Miller, Joe Gatti, and Galen Van Blaricum volunteered at the 4920 W 15th St clinic to treat uninsured patients using a $95,000 CEREC machine with porcelain crowns. Grant Martin of Patterson Dental Supply provided materials valued at about $1,500 per patient. Bob Carey Jr. was among 16 receiving restorations Friday, shortening a long waiting list for this seven year old clinic.
