The 496-year-old Waldseemüller map, known as America's birth certificate, goes on view at the Library of Congress after its $10 million purchase. The 12-panel 36-square-foot artifact, one of 1,000 copies made, shows America labeled AMERICA and includes Amerigi Vespucci in a display marking the exhibit Rivers Edens Empires.
