Voters in El Dorado and Augusta approve a cooperative 1.25 million dollar water line. Augusta backs 1,466 to 2 for a 115,754 dollar issue. El Dorado 3,266 to 104 percent for a 388,000 dollar issue. Three refineries will fund nearly 600,000 more. The 32 mile line from Mulvane valley to Augusta and on to El Dorado will carry 6 million gallons daily with 18 inch pipe to Augusta and 16 inch to El Dorado. Construction to start at once and finish in 60 days. Augusta expects 720,000 gallons daily. El Dorado 4 million.

Stored Wheat and Corn Reach Record U.S. Stock Levels
July 1 storage of wheat and corn rose to record highs. Wheat stocks totaled about 903 million bushels, 43 percent above the prior July 1 record, and corn stocks reached 1.40 billion bushels, 22 million more than the old July 1 peak. Oats and barley carried less than in most years, while total feed grain tonnage rose 10 percent and topped July 1 levels in 13 years. Kansas reported 168.734 million bushels stored on and off farm.

Texan to be returned to hotel slaying scene
Victor Lively, 32, of Texas, admitted the dresser drawer murder of 18 year old Dorothy Poore in Indianapolis. He was seized by St. Louis County deputies while walking on a highway and said he strangled Poore for protesting his drinking. Poore’s body was found in a dresser drawer at the Claypool Hotel in Indianapolis last Sunday.

William Scoop Ferguson 79 died yesterday at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He lived at 4th and Ala Streets and ran a shoe shining parlor on Massachusetts Street for years. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. He survives two sisters in law Laura Jones of Topeka and Sally Moore of Lawrence. Mrs. W W Wiseman, mother of Howard Wiseman, died Tuesday in Silver City New Mexico after a heart attack. Howard and his wife had traveled to visit in Silver City.
