Battles With the Insurgents In Mexico Riot

San Francisco reports from Mazatlan that Insurgent General Romerez attacked a barracks on the 26th with about ninety men. The fight lasted hours, about thirty killed and many wounded on both sides. Romerez collected a forced loan of around 50,000 from merchants before joining federal troops. The Democrat arrived July 1 and shelled the barracks. Romerez left July 3 and was overtaken by Col. Reys. More federal troops landed at Mazatlan to pursue Romerez. An election riot in Guadalajara left about thirty dead.

Interior Department telegram from Indian Agent Ludiam at Casa Grande Arizona states Indians there were drunk on home made liquor and killing each other.
