Hayden defends lease for Wildlife and Parks HQ in Topeka
Secretary Mike Hayden defended leasing a new regional headquarters for the Department of Wildlife and Parks in northwest Topeka on the former Menninger clinic grounds. The two year deal runs through July 1 2006 with annual rent over 92 thousand dollars and 100 thousand dollars in renovations. critics question land donation guarantees for a proposed 62 acre park and possible conflicts with Gov Kathleen Sebelius.

Norcatur church moved to Oberlin for museum display
A 100 year old St. Mark Lutheran Church in Norcatur was moved about 20 miles to Oberlin Kansas to join the Decatur County Museum. The move halted once for heat safety, then resumed and the church arrived to join 13 other historic buildings. Funds and restoration efforts will cover painting, a new roof, and structural work.
