San Francisco July 23 Eight persons burned to death and 23 injured as fire roared through a four story apartment house at dawn. About 70 residents escaped while six others were missing likely vacationing. Firemen treated ten injured including a woman who shattered a skull after leaping from a life net. Fire Chief A J Galli cited a 20 minute alarm delay and possible arson as police questioned suspects. Building damage estimated at $40000.
