Baltimore abandons mixed income housing plan for public units
Baltimore housing officials have scrapped a plan to mix middle income and poor residents in new subsidized housing replacing Lafayette Courts and Lexington Terrace high rises. Only impoverished residents will rent or buy the 800 plus Lafayette Courts and 670 Lexington Terrace units, amid opposition and a shift away from mandated income integration. The city had previously pledged mixed income development for two other demolished complexes under an ACLU settlement.
