Lawrence budget proposes lower mill levy for 1965

14 year old Mark Dowdell of 505 Wis was listed in fair condition at Lawrence Memorial Hospital after Tuesday’s fall from a pickup truck bed on Memorial Drive. He sustained back and internal injuries as well as cuts and bruises. Two other youths Jerry Mumford 15 of 429 Ind and Kenneth White 15 of 941 Pa were treated for cuts and bruises and released.

Health Center Loses Certification At Lawrence Douglas Center
Lawrence Douglas County Mental Health Center has had its certification withdrawn by the Kansas Division of Institutional Management due to radical program changes and the loss of two thirds of the staff including the staff psychiatrist and psychologist. The center was certified on April 22 1963 and may be reevaluated on request by the local board. Health Board chairman Harvey Booth said the loss is natural and certification can be restored once a psychologist is hired.
