4-H Fair Dates Set This Year For Aug 18 20
Nearly 500 4 H club members and vocational agriculture students in Douglas County will take part in the 24th annual 4 H and Vocational Agriculture Fair August 18 through 20 at the fair grounds on East Nineteenth Street. The three day affair is sponsored by the Alfred H Bromersick estate and the city of Lawrence through the Community Chest and is expected to draw crowds from Douglas and adjoining counties. The fair committee comprises 60 members of the 4 H Council and Future Farmers of America officers with township representatives. About 467 4 H members are in 20 Douglas County clubs and at least 450 are expected to participate. Most of the 52 vocational agriculture students from Lawrence High School will have entries in judging. Judges include Prof Walter Smith of Kansas State College general livestock and others from K State and local officials. Opens Wednesday the 18th at 8 a m continues through Friday with livestock, clothing, judging, and style events plus a public style revue and pet show.
