Montreal reports ongoing freight disruption as ice firms lack cars and the Canadian Pacific avoids Grand Trunk sidings. An attempted wreck near Toronto at Union depot damaged the Muskoka Buffalo express but spared passengers.
The Lawyers faced the Bankers at McCook field with the Bankers winning 7 to 4. Shorty Ogden led a late rally with two doubles and a three-base hit as Tom Harley, the county attorney, was criticized for his performance and later disqualified.
Philadelphia July 21 A sailor named Daniel Montagne who helped Hobson sink the Merrimac at Santiago Harbor is in a hospital with anemia Another sailor Wun Gray of the receiving ship Lancaster donated seventeen ounces of blood to Montagne and both men are resting easy.
The notice urges all eligible residents to register by the primary deadline with books closing at 10 o clock tonight. It notes voting age allows 21 year olds to vote in the primary for the November election and urges immediate action at the city clerk's office to avoid a rush.
Word flashed by wireless to James J. Jeffries at Catalina Island that Billy McCarney of Philadelphia plans a six round no decision bout with Al Kaufman at a Quaker City ballpark on Labor Day. McCarney reportedly telegraphed the offer to a friend in Philadelphia with instructions to gauge Jeffries interest. Jeffries would pick either a tying option or forty percent of the gross receipts.
Eihy concedes fast as Tr. Riling leads crowded field for county attorney. A Douglas county product from Willow Springs, Riling has served in the legislature and as county judge and is praised for vigorous prosecutions. He expects nomination at the approaching primaries with broad county support.
A morning fire on the Manhattan end of the Williamsburg Bridge destroyed three floors of a factory building. One dead watchman Parrish Eyed was found on the sixth floor as he tried to escape. An unnamed boy believed to have perished had been allowed to spend the night on the roof, and 300 tenement dwellers were displaced in the panic.
Bourges France July 21 a young woman who died at a local hotel July 13 is now believed to be Ethel Charleene Leneve Crippen's companion. Scotland Yard sent a photograph. locals note the likeness to Crippen. Police in Spain and Barcelona report Crippen active, traveling with aliases.
Reports from Manitoba describe Sandon in imminent danger as residents flee by train. Three Forks and Whitewater McGigan areas report destruction while fires close on Hossland Center mines. Kenora Ontario faces nearby blazes with farmhouses burned and towns surrounded by smoke as firefighters work nonstop.
Revenue officers report dismantling one of the largest moonshine stills in years near Cleburne County. The operation targeted the home of Charles Pessnell a prominent horifiatl candidate who received twenty two votes for the nomination. No arrests were made.
U S Attorney in Philadelphia reports John H Marshall was arrested on charges of conspiracy to defraud a national bank. Cambridge authorities say a bank defalcation was found about five months ago after a cashier confessed and implicated Marshall and two others. A woman’s thoughts are said to come out only as gossip.
The Journal praises a grocers and butchers picnic aimed at strengthening fellowship among local businesses. It notes past quarrels between trades, now replaced by mutual respect, and argues daylong gathering will boost cooperation and prosperity.
A blaze broke out during a performance of A Woman's Sacrifice at the Airdome stage behind the chorus dressing room. Eight artillerymen killed at Fort Monroe when a breech blew out in Battery DeHussey. Identified dead include Harry Hess Gun Commander Corporal Brentford and Privates A J Sullivan Duffey King Adkins. Accident occurred at 10 40 with mangled bodies, wounded rushed to the fort hospital. Wives and children witnessed the tragedy.
May be death by own action in Winnetka near Chicago. Hawn president of the Chicago Indian agilis and Louisville died from a bullet wound in his Winnetka residence. Police consider selfinflicted death with recent graft ties noted. Coroner says powder marks on the nightgown indicate close range shooting.

Chicago July 21 Ira G Rawn committed death by own action and Chicago police will drop investigation. Private detectives hired by the Rawn family continue to argue a burglar killed him. Coroner findings and a bullet hole in the fight gown support the suicide theory.
Chicago reports liberal selling of wheat offset bullish foreign news with Canadian denial of responsibility and higher flower production. Market opens 4 to 1/4 higher as September climbs to 1.0844 then retreats. Northwest spring wheat cutting not fully underway until about August 1.
Tomorrow night at the Yo ML CA building a meeting will decide eligibility for teams entering a city baseball league in Lawrence. Trophies and a $5 cash prize from Alfred Lawrence are offered to pennant winners, with a permanent league planned for yearly play.
Washington July 21 government to prosecute ice cream cone makers under the pure food law for containing borax. Large seizures occurred nationwide by Department of Agriculture inspectors. Borax found with saccharine and benzoate of soda but prosecutions will cite borax presence only as the basis. Inspectors will continue seizures where borax is found. Manufacturers argue borax preserves cone shape.
In London a formal proclamation announced the accession of King George and preparations for the coronation of the king and queen in June 1911. The exact date will be set later and officers of arms will announce his majesty's pleasure.
A joint meeting of the Merchants Association Boosters Lawrence Committee and Commercial Club discussed uniting Lawrence's business groups under a single umbrella plan.
