Grandfatherly Guardsman dies in Iraq fighting for family
Sgt. Roger Dale Rowe, 54, Tennessee Army National Guardsman and grandfather of seven, was killed by a sniper July 9 while driving a tanker in Iraq. A veteran of Vietnam, Desert Storm volunteer duty, and 17 years in the Tennessee Guard, he left behind a close-knit family in Bon Aqua and Nashville. His posthumous Purple Heart and Bronze Star were presented as mourners remembered him at a Nashville funeral.
