Ralph Waldo Stewart 71 died Monday at home south of Tonganoxie. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Quisenberry Chapel in Tonganoxie with burial in Hardy Oak Cemetery north of Lawrence. Graveside services were held this afternoon for infant Michael Eugene Folsum, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Folsum of 1810 Tenn. St., who died Monday at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Survivors include a sister Linda Folsum and maternal grandmother Mrs. Mattie Grand. Rev W S Sims officiated Oak Hill Cemetery services. Bowser Lee Mortuary arranged details.

Eight Die as Store Blasted in Merrill Wisconsin
A powerful explosion leveled the J C Penney department store in Merrill Wisconsin on Monday. Eight people were killed and 11 injured. Kansas City's 20 000 construction workers return to work after a four month strike that ended Monday night with a televised signing of a four year contract between Hoisting Engineers Local 101 and the Home Builders and Heavy Constructors Associations. The pact includes an immediate 12 percent wage increase and 15 percent more in 1961 62 and 63. Old wages ranged from 2 54 to 3 37 14 per hour. Hiring hall rules apply to new workers. Two other crafts remain in negotiations.
