Summer Youth Theater teaches professionalism at Lawrence Arts Center
The Lawrence Arts Center hosts four summer productions for youth from ages third grade to high school. About 250 participants rehearse in boot camp schedules with four to six hours daily, learning acting, technical work, costumes, dancing, and enunciation under professional instructors. Eric Palmquist, a former participant, now directs as a technical instructor, spotlighting a path from student to mentor.

An Evening With the Music of the Beatles at Liberty Hall
Friday event at Liberty Hall features a house band with guest vocalists from Lawrence and nearby areas. Doors open 7 pm, show starts 8 pm, tickets 20 dollars at the box office or Ticketmaster. Lee notes the set will last at least three hours with hits like Hey Jude and Strawberry Fields Forever and rare songs the Beatles never played live. The encore will include 12 to 15 Beatles numbers from before they were famous, performed with care to stay true to the original. The future of the fundraiser uncertain, dependent on venue, band, and crowd satisfaction.
