Stewart Dominates Dover Open Wheel Practice Session

Tony Stewart, defending IRL champion and points leader, posted a 184.445 mph fast lap in morning practice at Dover Downs International Speedway for the Pep Boys 400k. He followed with a brisk seven-lap shakedown in the afternoon at 184.388 mph, staying clearly ahead of Arie Luyendyk and Jeff Ward as drivers logged the day’s top times.

Italian driver Zanardi tops Toronto practice pole pace

Italian driver Alex Zanardi clocked 105.480 mph on the 1.721 mile temporary course to lead the provisional pole for Sunday's Toronto Molson-Indy. Gil de Ferran, Michael Andretti, Dario Franchitti and Tony Kanaan followed as Zanardi chases his 11th CART pole. Zanardi noted Friday the 17th is unlucky but the session brought a stroke of luck amid earlier rain and grip issues.
