Lawrence School Board meets at 7 30 p m Monday at the administration center to consider a plan by the Lawrence High School Trades Program to obtain and remodel a house. If approved a nonprofit corporation would be formed by local residents and businessmen to finance and advise the project. Students would do the work while other classes handle decoration and supply purchases.

Local citizen aided by Lawrence Paper Co backs into business
Nathan Howe age 1044 N Third was injured June 28 when the wagon he used to haul waste paper was pulled into a passing train at a crossing. The wagon was destroyed and Howe had been out of business. Lawrence Paper Co presented him a new wagon Friday through Bud Hess.

Woman Hurt In Her Bedroom In Lawrence Incident
A 20 year old Kansas University student from West Virginia reported to Lawrence police that a man entered her residence on the 1000 block of Tennessee and attacked her in her upstairs bedroom around 2 10 am. She was taken to Watkins Memorial Hospital for treatment after being choked and partially losing consciousness. Police described the suspect as extremely nervous and were unable to provide a full description.

Hemp Harvest Halted by Two Adults and a Juvenile
Douglas County deputies arrested Dennis Kerkman and Matthew Senior after a Friday raid uncovered about 600 pounds of freshly cut marijuana at an abandoned farmstead near the city. A 17 year old Lawrence boy was implicated. The trio faced marijuana possession with intent to sell charges with $1 500 bond posted. the juvenile was not held. Evidence included seven large bags and bags of leaves, plus gloves and candies.
