Mrs G R Street of Lawrence Kansas sustained a broken leg and body bruises when her automobile hit a culvert near Clay Center. City commission in regular session approved two internal improvement bond issues. One for about 32,000 funds paving and widening Vermont street and New Hampshire street in the 700 block. the second for 653 pays for a sanitary sewer lateral on Kentuck street. A paving petition for Indiana street from Sixteenth to Seventeenth was received. The rest room maintenance levy was requested. 41 inspections and nine permits were reported for June. The east 20 feet of Missouri street between Tenth and Eleventh was vacated to align street lines, reverting to adjacent property owners. The city attorney is reviewing whether city employees with federal funds fall under state workers compensation.

Burned in Explosion Near Home Causes Severe Burns
Gerhard Planz of 1112 Pennsylvania street suffered painful burns to his right hand and arm when a gasoline stove exploded while he heated water behind his home Saturday night. Mrs. Planz wrapped him in a tarpaulin, reducing the danger as he received treatment at home and was reported resting in poor condition today. Planz operates a garage at Eleventh and Sylvania streets and did not know the cause.

William Grives aged 41 from Iola is hospitalized with a broken neck after a head-on collision near Wichita yesterday. His sister-in-law Mrs Daniel Grives and her husband were also injured with hip injuries and minor wounds. The crash involved a car driven by Robert True Love of Salt Lake City. Investigators said Grives swerved to avoid hitchhikers, causing the fatal impact with True Love’s vehicle.
