Community Notes From High Prairie Doings In Kansas

Mr and Mrs Newman Weems and Miss Irene Jordon spent a few days in Kansas City this week. A surprise party for Mrs Davis on her forty seventh birthday brought fourteen guests, with ice cream and cake. Numerous visits followed, including Edna Jones with Miss May Barkley and Miss Geneive White with Reese Swimley. The Ladies Aid met at Mrs James Gale with seven members and one guest, officers elected, and ice cream and cake served. Weathered by illnesses and threshing runs, friends shared meals, farm work, and social calls across the week through Sunday. Indignation over a horse kick left Mrs Stevenson recovering, while Rev Brooks preached at Independence schoolhouse to a thirsty crowd.
