In St Louis on July 7 Circuit Judge McElhenney dissolved the receivership of Peoples United States Bank and discharged the receiver. He ruled the secretary of state Swanger failed to personally examine the bank before seeking a receiver, finding the appointment based on impressions and unverified representations.
In Chicago on July 17 five men broke into the federation of labor election hall after smashing ballot boxes and tearing tickets. They attacked Michael Donnelly international president of the bakers' union, who lay on the floor dangerously injured. The assailants fled and were not identified.
Baris July 17 Beilee Artar a principal founder of the old Panama canal was found dead in his apartments under circumstances indicating death by own action. Artar was sentenced to eight years for complicity with Baron De Retnach and Dr Cornelius Hers in frauds of the Panama canal company acting as intermediary between Retnach and incriminating French deputies.
General W. W. Blackmar, commander in chief of the A U L, died at 5 o clock Sunday afternoon from intestinal nephritis. His wife was at his side. The body will be embalmed and taken to the family home in Boston. Blackmar arrived here Monday on a tour planned to visit Grand Army posts across the northeast.
In Olathe Kansas on July 17 George Giobons and Willita Gibbons brothers drowned in Major Madiey lake just north of town. Their young cousin Miller nearly perished trying to rescue them. George Giobons suffered cramps after entering the lake and his brother dived to aid him and vanished beneath the water.
Reliable information from Tokyo reports Russian troops in northern Korea have been advancing northward since last month and now occupy positions just south of the Tumen river. A large Vladivostok column is moving south, but officials expect a halt at Nokiefsk to form a defensive line against the Japanese. Rain in Manchuria slows operations while in Chicago the heat reaches 93 degrees with two stockyard prostrations.
In New York on July 17 Miss Cora Michaelis and Helen Doonschuser were badly hurt when Frederick E. Marshall of St. Louis had his borrowed car crushed between an elevated railway pillar and a street car. The two women required half an hour to be freed from the tangled wreckage. The street car occupants were tossed from the vehicle and the conductor was severely injured.
Judge Seillwell of Erle, Kansas, rules the juvenile court law constitutional and denies a motion to set aside a judgment in the Wenaman suit, the first case tried under the new law. An appeal by the defendant tested the statute's constitutionality.
In Gadsden Alabama on July 1 guards protected the jail to prevent a lynching of Black suspects in the murder of Mrs. J. Santth, a white woman. The surrounding crowd remained, but dissipated, and no violence occurred. The Funsten case is noted.
A former congressman faces trial in Lola on charges of distur bing the peace as witnesses testify about alleged inflammatory utterances and police conduct. The crowded courtroom heard testimony from Bricklayer FW Garret and others while Funston's lawyers moved to demur to the city evidence.

Death or serious injury to Attorney John Bell Assistant Solicitor Harry Kingston and William Worn of Cullingswood New Jersey reported with multiple fractures and scalp lacerations.

Saioa Kansas July 1 Janes McNellia a harvest hand was killed early today by a Union Pacific train. He had quit work yesterday to return to Terre Haute Indiana and is believed to have fallen while attempting to board a freight. The coroner will hold the body awaiting word from the McNellty family.
J. T. Bradley, earlier temporary receiver of the First National Bank of Uniq City, was made permanent receiver as the bank failed with over deposits. Devlin's is listed as the principal stockholder.
Open season for plovers runs until September 14 for hunters with county license. Divers and war grouse, prairie chickens, quail, dove, geese, cranes, and ducks have varied dates from September to April. Red grouse is protected. many counties also protect quail and prairie chickens.
