Topeka Resident and Sons Improve After Turnpike Crash
Mrs. Jack Blevins 31 of Topeka remained in fair condition at Lawrence Memorial Hospital while her two sons Gregory 9 and Ricky 24 were in good condition. The family was injured Tuesday afternoon in a car-truck collision on the Turnpike five miles west of Lawrence. The boys suffered severe cuts and bruises but have shown rapid improvement. Mrs Blevins, formerly Bette Belle Riggs daughter of Mr and Mrs John Riggs Route 5, sustained severe injuries to arms legs and face.

The 1959 seven week summer music program sponsored by the schools ends with a 730 p m Friday concert at South Park directed by Don Beene. About 285 youths enrolled this year. Teamsters Fined for Criminal Contempt in Asheville Case

Boy 13 in fair condition after bike car wreck
A 13 year old Douglas County boy Gary Harshberger was treated at Lawrence Memorial Hospital after a bike car crash five miles west and a mile south of Lawrence. He suffered a compound fracture of the right leg and multiple injuries. Otto L. Johanning 68 of 1529 R I St drove a car north at about 45 mph. The bicycle traveled east at a blind corner with weeds blocking view. The bicycle was demolished and car damage was about 50 dollars.

Attempted Burglary Foiled at Hammig Locker Plant
An attempted burglary was stopped about 10 pm Wednesday when Les Hammig of the Hammig Locker Plant at 832 Pa. St. returned to work. Burglars pried a hole in the building, used a two wheel truck to haul an 850 pound safe to the rear dock but failed to load it, and also tried to enter the meat room but were stopped.
