Kansas GOP Critics Docking At Democratic Convention
The Kansas Republican State Executive Committee reviewed plans for the upcoming Miami national convention and attacked Gov. Robert Docking for his DNC tactics. RNC member Huck Boyd accused Docking of ducking leadership and of handing his delegation seat to a McGovern alternate to avoid political backlash. He also criticized Rep. Bill Roy for similar tactics, saying he votes with McGovern while trying to reassure Kansas Republicans. The meeting also covered a 1972 law mandating a platform meeting after the primary and district conventions to elect officers and state committee members, with the governor candidate likely keeping his campaign staff through the general election.
