Kansans Back Goldwater In Delegation Vote At GOP Convention
Kansas delegates largely backed Barry Goldwater on 16 of 20 votes as the Republican convention rejected extremist denouncement measures. The lineup favored Goldwater 18-2 in platform votes, with Scranton and Woodson dissenting on civil rights and extremist denouncement. Rep. Bob Dole pushed Taft for vice president amid busy convention activity.
