Elks Present New Colors to KU ROTC Regiment

Navy unit gains informal recreation rooms via Bundles for America
A local woman’s committee sponsored by Bundles for America plans to furnish two unused recreational rooms in the naval unit’s Frank Strong hall quarters. Lieut. F A Buhl says no funds are available for the project, so volunteers seek study chairs tables and other donated items such as card tables a radio phonograph records a ping pong table maps magazines and playing cards. Committee chairs are Mrs Richard Jackman and Mrs W C Hunsinger with Mrs Fred J Moreau as overall chairman and others listed to collect contributions.

New Armored Division Activated at Camp Funston
Fort Riley Kansas July 15. In brief ceremonies the new Ninth armored division was activated at Camp Funston and will be its home. It succeeds the Second Cavalry Division which was stationed there for a year prior to the war. Units of the cavalry division were assembled under Brigadier General John Coulter and presented to Major General Geoffrey Keyes for the new division. Funston is being remodeled to house the armored force.
