A 1935 Oldsmobile owned by Marvin Rowland of 113 Elizabeth Street Moberly Missouri overturned and plunged down a 15 foot embankment west of Big Springs on U S highway 40. Passengers Marvin and Mrs. Roland and Charles and Mrs. Beck were all from Moberly and were taken to Stormont hospital with injuries including eye injury and possible arm fracture for Mrs. Roland. Mr. Beck suffered more serious injuries. Beck and Roland are Wabash railroad engineers en route to Estes Park Colorado for a vacation.

Corn Damaged Badly Across Kansas Amid Heat Wave
Topeka July 15 reports from the United States Weather Bureau say corn is at a critical stage and deteriorating under high temperatures and drought. Between 50 and 75 percent of the crop in south central and southeastern counties is damaged beyond recovery, with less severe damage in some extreme southeastern areas where early July rains occurred. Northeast Kansas shows 26 to 50 percent tasseling and 15 to 25 percent badly damaged. Western Kansas fares better though stands are curling. Pastures burn brown and stock water grows scarce south of the Kansas River. grasshoppers damage crops and orchards mainly in northeastern Kansas, less so elsewhere except southwest and southeast where they have not yet penetrated.

Long Fight for Firemen at Kansas City Mills Warehouse
