Webs in trees signal insects may not harm, but bagworms pose risk
KU expert Rob Brooks explains that fall webworms and tent caterpillars create tents in branches from mid to late summer. Most trees suffer only aesthetic impact, but bagworms on junipers can kill the host bush. Caterpillars feed in summer, then become moths. Prevention includes early pesticide use with diazinon or dipel, plus pruning branches when accessible.
