Kennedy Mooney assault case delayed to Monday

Kennedy and Julia Mooney face trial in Independence district court for the March 17 assault on Margaret Akers, Coffeyville High School girl. The case, with Kennedy held and Mooney on $3000 bond, was continued after a morning conference among attorneys and Judge J. W. Holdren. A Valley Chapel program notice follows about a church event Sunday morning.

Bank closes at Angola as loans uncollectible

Angola State Bank in Labette county has turned its affairs over to the state banking department after failing to collect most loans. Deposits totaling 857,145 were reported against loans of 53,518 with capital of 10,000 and surplus 5,500. H.Muzzy served as president and J.C. McGee as cashier. A second item notes the theft of a spare tire from Albert Wichmart’s roadster parked in the 700 block on Massachusetts.
