Black Bishop Dixon Chosen as First in South Central Jurisdiction
The South Central Jurisdictional Conference of the United Methodist Church elected Ernest T. Dixon Jr. its first black bishop. Dixon, 50, a San Antonio native, serves in Dayton Ohio and will replace retiree Noah Moore. Four bishops were chosen, including Don Holter and Finis Crutchfield, as the eight-state conference covers Nebraska Kansas Missouri Oklahoma New Mexico Texas Louisiana Arkansas.
