University music camp concert features Kodaly and Handel
The Kansas University Concert Series presented a Sunday program in the University Theatre featuring choral and orchestral works. Dr. Warner Lawson conducted the choral groups with pieces by Hovhaness and Dieterich while Prof. Russell Wiley led Kodaly Hary Janos Suite with Charmaine Wiley on cimbalon. Guy Taylor conducted Handel and Cowell works, and Brahms Fourth Symphony closed the afternoon. An evening program followed with Brendler leading Grofe Mardi Gras and Clifton Williams Symphonic Suite, then Kenney and Giannini pieces concluding with Giannini Symphony No. 3. The concert earned strong praise as part of the Midwestern Music and Art Camp season.
