The Little Church in Black and White
A reading contrasts detective fiction with religion, noting mystery and certainty. The friend disdains faith for its perceived mystery while loving detective plots, yet finds religion offers ordered existence, benevolent God, and faith, hope, and love as life’s realities. The piece cites Whittier on divine care and questions whether life needs an end to be meaningful.
