Record power use as heat waves hit Kansas City area
On Tuesday the Kansas Public Service area including Lawrence hit a peak 2,112 megawatts as temperatures reached 103 degrees in Lawrence and heat advisories covered the region. Outages affected several large customers near a substation, attributed to mechanical failures, while water use remained below a record.
