New York man finds slave sale link to historic Rye family
Dennis Richmond Jr. and his uncle uncovered a 1790 bill of sale at the Rye Historical Society showing Daniel Lyon selling a enslaved woman named Pegg Green to Nathaniel Merritt Jr. The document links Richmond to Margeret Green, his ancestor, and sheds light on the Merritt family and local land history in Westchester County.
