First time's the charm for filmmaker Cherot Hav Plenty
Christopher Scott Cherot, a Bronx native and former taxi driver, sold his first film Hav Plenty for about 1 million dollars to Miramax. The studio then urged a happier ending, prompting Cherot to add a tongue in cheek epilogue and a new festival scene that mocked distributors.

Mirror/Mirror at University Theatre Delivers Mixed Sentiment
The University Theatre opens Mirror/Mirror, a biographical look at Wellsville artist Elizabeth Grandma Layton. Dede Dresser anchors the cast with a steady, sympathetic Layton, while strong family scenes buoy the show. Some scenes in the mental ward feel melodramatic and hollow, but the production remains worth catching with performances by Bannen Latham-Winter-Green and Wasson. Next show is 8 p.m. tonight in Crafton-Preyer Theater Murphy Hall. Judy Wright directed.
