Graduation Rules Pondered by Kansas Board of Education
The State Board of Education in Topeka has drafted new rules to return high school graduation requirements to local boards for potential approval at the August meeting. Hearings favored local control, with concerns over transfer student policy and the Kansas Association of Secondary School Principals urging more requirements beyond two core units. If approved, districts may choose between old rules for 1973-74 or adopting the new 17-unit four-year plan starting afterward.
