Wheat Production Set to Remain Unchanged in 1935 Forecast
U S agriculture officials say weather normals and ample carryover will keep acreage and production steady next year despite a June drop in the projected wheat output. The crop board estimates 1984 production at 483,622,000 bushels with a 15 percent reduction under the 1928-22 average. If weather normalizes, higher domestic consumption and export plans could lift overall production, keeping a substantial surplus of about 115,000,000 bushels by July 1, 1935. Drought affects corn oats and other crops across the belt, with only parts of the Pacific Northwest and New England near average.
