Topeka commissioners move to cut the transportation tax from 310000 to 209000 in a bid to help the bus company out of financial difficulties. Finance Commissioner John G. Stuty objects to the plan.
Four commissioners agreed to open the bus franchise contract and asked Albert S Moore to pay $10 in arrears taxes. The matter arose during a long budget session as Major George Sehnel Barker urged a swift settlement so franchise contributions can be included in the 1958 budget. Moore asked relief from a $ STU.000 tax and other steps to ease the firm’s finances, warning drastic service cuts or fare hikes if not addressed.
