Immediate need at Just Food for weekday volunteer drivers 8am to noon, with two hour shifts. Big Brothers Big Sisters invites mentors for the school program with about an hour weekly. Fire destroys home west of Lawrence
Firefighters battled a two floor blaze at 1565 E 800 Road southwest of US 40 and the South Lawrence Trafficway. An elderly man and his son lived there. a fan cord overheated starting the fire igniting oxygen tanks and propane causing a roof collapse. Red Cross aided with lodging and essentials for the residents and their dog.
