Korean survivor pulled from Sampoong collapse after nine days
A man trapped for nine and a half days beneath debris of the Sampoong Department Store was rescued alive as rescuers continued work with torches and drills. Choi Myong suk, 21, who sold children’s shoes, described begging for water and air while surviving on rainwater and a small box. He was found in the basement near the surface and later treated for dehydration. Two bodies were recovered that day as the building toll rose.
