Liberty Hall Cinemas Sees 11 Percent Drop From 2003 to 2005
Liberty Hall Cinemas owner Rob Fitzgerald notes an 11 percent decline through July 2005 versus 2003 and a 27 percent drop versus 2004. He attributes the slump to a cyclical film lineup and fewer strong indie titles, despite solid showings during Oscar season and Memorial Day weekend. He cites films such as Sideways and The Merchant of Venice as top earners in 2005 and says blockbusters have limited impact on their business.

Shelved Fantastic Four bootleg gains cult status
Entertainment editor Jon Niccum notes a long shelved adaptation of The Fantastic Four gained a cult reputation among comic book fans as a holy grail. Bootlegs spread at conventions and online as illegal copies, with nostalgia for a low budget live action take and a cheesy Thing costume.
Chiklis Faces The Thing On Big Screen Return
Michael Chiklis recalls the demanding 60 pound latex suit used to become The Thing for Fantastic Four in Vancouver. He credits the Red Sox playoff run with keeping him sane amid long hours and heat, while Tim Story coordinated shoots and doubles to ease the workload. Chiklis pursued the role for his kids and a broader career path, seeing it as a potential decade long franchise and a boost for international visibility.

Dark Water review finds scares missing amid rain soaked drama
A critical take on Dark Water argues Dahlia’s paranoia undercuts the suspense amid a divorce and custody disputes. Set in Roosevelt Island the film piles on mysteries while Connelly delivers a weary performance, and the ensemble provides odd New York atmosphere but fails to sustain investment.
