June Traffic Inquiries In Lawrence City Streets

Police Lt. Jack Evans reports 29 injuries in 76 Lawrence accidents in June with no fatalities. Through June 1964 total 165 injuries and 506 accidents. top causes are failure to yield and speeding. Drivers include 97 Lawrence residents, 21 other state residents, 10 out-of-state. Age groups 20-24 and 25-34 tied with 28 accidents each. Weather mostly dry with 60 daytime, 16 night.

New Game Agent Assigned to Douglas and Shawnee Counties

George Schlecty a former traffic and safety official for the Kansas Highway Commission has been named game protector for Douglas and Shawnee counties. He will replace Eddie Bond who will continue protecting Leavenworth and Jefferson counties. Bond shifts to Perry Reservoir patrol in Jefferson County. Schlecty arrives with strong local recommendations and training under Art Benander.
