Washington reports cholera spreading in Manila with 116 cases and 9 deaths in the week ending the Fourth. In the next two hours 12 new cases and 3 deaths occurred in the provinces. Two Americans are dead and measures include curbing infected foods as health authorities strive to control the spread.
July 5 Van derlip vice president of National City Bank of New York discusses Garraney before the state bankers association. Also notes: Oklahoma not to get a star on the flag for a time and July 3 11 set for top admission record with a star in the blue field. July 6 Congressmen Longworth and wife sail for Paris.
F N Woodraft a travelling salesman for Marshall Field and Co sailed from Liverpool to New York on the steamer Bajestle and died by suicide by cutting his throat with a razor. The body was buried at sea.
Henry Meldrum a former US surveyor for Oregon district is sentenced today for conspiracy to defraud the United States in land deals. He must pay 230 dollars and serve 60 days in a federal penitentiary for each of sixteen counts.
In St. Petersburg on July 5 the emperor publicly appointed Grand Duke Nicholas Nicholaierited as commander of the forces in the military district to investigate disorders among the troops and take measures to stop them.
A southbound Evans street car carrying Independence Day celebrants derailed on Central Avenue last night and collided with a northbound car. Four were seriously injured and dozens panicked as the derailed vehicle wrecked and the other train was damaged.

Mr and Mrs W A Fairbanks of Con Gas City were guests yesterday of Col and Mrs BH Moore. Emma McCola went to De Soto yesterday afternoon. Mr and Mrs J Hoversack returned from Washington DC. Mrs Blanche Lyons went to Garb age Mo and then New York to study with Whitney. Maude Cooke accompanied to Kansas City. Ladies missionary society of the Presbyterian church plans a trip to the country tomorrow. Mrs John Ellworth hosted a card party at their cabin south of town. Mr and Mrs L Hilferkins hosted friends last night. A display of fireworks featured the evening. Bonnole Bell visits Miss Mary Clark in St Joseph Mo. Kalier of Mount Pleasant IA, Eva Teeter and Minnie Teeter of Los Angeles, W D Keller of Sayre Okla, and NE Keller of Topeka are guests of Mr and Mrs W D Keller. A high structure near Liza Cake nine miles west of here collapsed today killing one person and injuring five others. Authorities investigate the accident at the site as rescue teams work through debris.
