Botched home invasion target claimed as drug money

Mayhan testified he and two co defendants planned to rob a Lawrence drug dealer during a December home invasion on New Jersey Street. He said Eftekhar presented the plan and included Johns as the getaway driver while all three face robbery and burglary charges in Douglas County District Court.

Public works building plan moves forward in Douglas County

Douglas County commissioners will vote to authorize final go ahead on a $13.9 million Public Works facility southeast of Lawrence at East 25th Street. The plan consolidates operations into one site with added space and parking, replacing two current offices. Construction could start February 2014 and finish 2015.
