Exhibit marks opening of heritage area exhibit in Lawrence

Young people educators and city county leaders attended an afternoon viewing and evening grand opening. Harold Riehm played Charles Robinson as Judy Billings described the exhibit as an introduction to the 41 county eastern Kansas western Missouri heritage area with Carnegie as its headquarters. Lawrence Douglas County funded the exhibit with 200000 guest tax money and the Daughters of the American Revolution donated an American flag flown over the Capitol by request of Rep. Lynn Jenkins, destined to be flown at the Carnegie building.

KU staff food drive aims to collect one ton of food

Kansas University Unclassified and University Support Staff senates host the third annual Summer Food Drive from July 11 to 15 with donations accepted through July 22. Partners include Just Food and Douglas County Food Bank, which converts ten cents into one pound of food. Rollover Crash Injures Lawrence Woman in Allen County

A 48-year-old Lawrence woman Azita Ahosseini suffered injuries in a Saturday rollover on U S 169 one mile east of Iola, Kansas. She wore a seat belt and was taken to Allen County Hospital. Two Lawrence passengers, Shahram Samandi and Gelareh Samandi, were not injured. A separate two vehicle crash east of Lawrence on I 70 temporarily closed eastbound lanes for about two and a half hours, with two people sent to Kansas University Hospital for minor injuries. A helicopter ambulance arrived as a precaution.
