LiveWell Lawrence gains momentum for healthier Douglas County
Five years after its start in Douglas County the LiveWell Lawrence coalition promotes policy and environmental changes to boost healthy eating and activity. Supported by Kansas Health Foundation grants the group backs school gardens CSAs EatWell and WorkWell with 18 restaurants joining the program and 12 elementary marathon clubs engaging about 1100 students. The effort focuses on two health plan priorities physical activity and access to healthy foods with four work groups led by local leaders including Christina Holt Werdell Taylor Linda Koester Vogelsang and Cris Anderson.
