Mississippi abortion law blocked by federal judge
A federal judge issued a temporary restraining order blocking HB 1390, a Mississippi law that would require abortion providers to have hospital admitting privileges. The order delays enforcement and sets a July 11 hearing to decide if the law will be blocked longer. The suit argues the mandate would shutter Jackson Women's Health Organization, the state’s only clinic. The governor and law supporters say the measure strengthens abortion regulations and patient safety.
