Lawmaker cites DUI funding gaps in 2012 session
Owens warned that a new DUI funding provision could affect enforcement but warned of unintended consequences and gaps. He noted a dispute over whether municipal courts must turn over 250 in each DUI case to the states community corrections department to pay for penalties on repeat offenders. He said the law as drafted targets district courts for collection instead. He pledged fixes at the start of next session, with Kansas Legislature convening January 2012.
