Powell to work part time until pay restored
Rep Adam Clayton Powell says he will serve part time in Congress while his pay is docked by 25 000 to 42 500 annually. He would return to full time only if his full pay is restored. The 25 000 fine was imposed when he was seated after being excluded in 1967 for alleged misuse of funds. The exclusion was later deemed unconstitutional by the Supreme Court.
