Experts warn colder winters may slow the move, but residents report road kill sightings and officials note the animals’ high jumping ability can trap in car grilles. Roadrunner reports hint at further northward movement.

Market demand soars for top quality wheat
Rising rain concerns lifted premiums for high protein wheat in Kansas City trading, with premium wheat at 18 percent above ordinary hard red, the highest June spread since 1975. Mills seek quality, while farmers face hurdles in segregating protein at harvest and may need farm storage and independent marketing to capture premiums. USDA June stock report shows wheat up 31 percent year over year, with 148.6 million bushels in Kansas storage and total U.S. farm and elevator stocks at 945 million bushels. Acreage report notes 62.9 million acres planted nationwide, down 5 percent from last year, Kansas at 9.2 million harvested of 10 million planted.
